What could be this year’s biggest gathering of global innovation experts in the banking and IT industries would have to be set aside for now. The organizing committee of the Philippine Fintech Festival 2020 has announced the cancellation of the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Philippine Fintech Festival aims to empower enterprises via a digital revolution in order to remain relevant and competitive amid a rapidly changing business environment. It was originally set on May 20 and 21, 2020 at the Shangri-La at the Fort. In April, the organizers moved the schedule to September 16 and 17, 2020. But apparently, due to the continuing health crisis not just in the country but also in the entire globe, the two-day event has to be canceled this year.
“It is with deep regret that we announce that we announce that the PFF (Philippine Fintech Festival) 2020 will not be pushing through as scheduled,” the committee said in its statement. “We are rallying everyone to continue the efforts at flattening the curve through continued strict physical distancing and in following the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infection Diseases (IATF-EID) and relevant government agencies. Let’s do our part in working together to fight and mitigate the impact of Covid-19.”
