Sterling Bank of Asia (SBA) has launched a parol-making project in San Juan City’s Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as part of its corporate social responsibility program ‘Kind Heart Gives.’
The parol-making project not just showcases the craftsmanship of persons deprived of liberty (PDL) at the city jail. It also gives them the opportunity to generate cash for their selves and their families.
“The parol is a great expression of the Filipinos’ faith and hope,” said SBA President and CEO Cecilio San Pedro. “We’d like to take this opportunity to extend our support to the PDLs of San Juan City as we move towards a brighter Christmas celebration in these challenging times.”
SBA employees extended their support by ordering parols during the kick-off of the program.
“It is inspiring to see how our fellow employees happily bought their own parols as a way of helping these persons deprived of liberty,” said SBA Human Resources Group Head Dulce Edillor. “From a company-led initiative, our fellow employees voluntarily involved themselves in the project.”
