Actress Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo talks about reliable partnerships

One of primetime TV’s teleserye queens, Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo, rarely talks about her married life with actor-TV host Ryan Agoncillo. But recently, she opened up to briefly describe their strong partnership, which serves as an inspiration to many other couples, in and out of the show business. The entertainment industry may proliferate with short-lived romances, but this powerhouse couple proves that it is possible.

“Ryan is my enabler,” Judy Ann shares. “He is my strongest support system. He supports me like no one else can. I’m really blessed and grateful he is my lifetime partner.”

The 42-year-old entertainment icon disclosed how the two of them helped each other. “When we got together, nag-tutulungan talaga kami (we really helped each other). I taught him about show business when he started. He taught me to stand up for myself. He encouraged me to do many things I would not have done if not for him. Many of my achievements outside of showbiz, like writing a book, became a reality with his encouragement. That’s what partners are all about.”

Judy Ann shares more about their love story through the latest campaign dubbed as ‘Partner Beyond a Lifetime,’ which was launched by Sun Life Grepa Financial, Inc. (Sun Life Grepa) this month (July 2020). The campaign’s centerpiece is a revelation that highlights their successful marriage and the foregrounds on why the actress puts a premium on partnerships, including the one she shares with Sun Life Grepa (she is the ambassador of the company’s insurance business).

“I’ve been an insurance policyholder since I was 17 years old. Ganoon na katagal (it’s been that long). I know that my line of work is very unstable. Puwedeng bukas may pelikula ka, pero sa susunod na taon hindi ka na kilala ng mga tao (I may have a movie today but be a ‘has-been’ by tomorrow). That’s what I prepared for, kahit nung Mara Clara days pa (even at the height of Mara Clara), and that’s what I always say to the young ones now.”

She emphasized that securing a life insurance plan gives one confidence to face the future. “Don’t wait until you get married and grow old before getting a life insurance. The earlier you have it, the better,” she stressed. “It is a gift you can give to yourself, and would benefit your family in the end. Moreover, having a life insurance actually teaches you to appreciate life more. Ultimately, it gives you peace of mind because you know that at the end of the day, your life is insured.”
