The island of Siargao is unique as it has the shape of a teardrop. But save your tears for some other place as the surfing paradise has many surprises, sights, and experiences to offer to its guests.

As part of Surigao del Norte in Northern Mindanao, Siargao is a tropical gem that touches the face of the Pacific, making it an ideal surfing destination especially every last quarter of the year until the summer months in the country.

There is no dull moment in Siargao. Every vacation would surely be worth it especially if you are determined to explore all the 48 islands and islets in the area.

So book your flight tickets and make plans for your itinerary on your next vacation. Here are some fun leisure activities you can do while enjoying Siargao.

Cloud Nine

Surf, surf, surf!

Go surfing in the fifth best surfing destination in the world—Cloud Nine—according to international travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler. Thick hollow tubes that are unique to the area will not just make surfing challenging and fun but also breathtaking. The onset of the surfing season in the area usually starts in September or October. This time of the year, Cloud Nine transforms into surfers’ mecca so carefully plan your getaway and book accommodation in advance.

Explore Sohoton Cove National Park.
Spare P100 to take a ferry going to Dapa port. From there, hire small boat going to Bucas Grande or the Sohoton Cove National Park. Get amazed by the place’s limestone islands and virgin mangrove forests that frame the nearby picturesque blue waters and white sand beaches. Some islands in the area also house clusters of bats, while others are adorned by stingless jellyfish.

Set rural adventures in countryside villages.
Aside from surf sites, beaches, and hangouts, there is a natural allure brought about by the villages in the area. Check out the lush rice fields, stroll along the unending coastline, and enjoy the warm company of the locals. Rent motorcycles to complete the unforgettable experience.

Special additional flights this season
The Philippines’ surfing capital will be welcoming more tourists (local and international) as Cebu Pacific Air offers special additional flights to island. The carrier is set to start flying the Manila to Siargao route six times every week beginning December 17, 2017 until March 24, 2018. Travelers can start booking flights so they can fly to the popular tourism destination for as low as P2.370.

“There is a clear surge of interest in Siargao, and we’ve seen its great potential for tourism since we began offering flights in 2009,” said Cebgo President and CEO Alexander Lao. (Cebgo is a budget unit of Cebu Pacific Air.) “With our special direct Manila-Siargao flights, we are positive that more tourists will discover what Siargao has to offer. Cebu Pacific Air is glad to make it easier for everyJuan to visit this dreamy island paradise more often, where surfing and sustainable living are a way of life.”

At the same time, Cebu Pacific Air will also fly directly between Cebu and Siargao for a low year-round fare of just P2,104. Visit the company’s website to know more or to book your next flight to the island.
