The gaming community on Twitter has continued putting e-sports and gaming on the map globally. Proof of this is the record volume of tweets about gaming posted on the microblogging site in the first half of the year (from January to June).
Twitter has revealed up to 1.5 billion tweets about gaming in the period—translating to a 36% jump in such tweets compared to the same period in 2021. That number was driven by trending conversations about game releases like Elden Ring and e-sports leagues like Call of Duty League, Valorant Champions Tour, and Professional Gamers League Counter-Strike: Global Offensive plus global gaming events like Xbox Showcase, Playstation’s State of Play, and Summer Game Fest.
“Gamers worldwide continued to come to Twitter to discuss all of the latest happenings and trends—from new game releases to patch notes to highlights from major e-sports events,” a Twitter posted in its blog.
