Elvis Presley died as a superstar on August 16, 1977 when he was just 42. According to reports, he was found unconscious in his bathroom and was declared dead upon arrival at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Although there have been numerous speculations about the cause of his death, did you know that results of his autopsy remains sealed and will be opened in 2027 in time for his 50th death anniversary? Vernon Presley, his father, made this instruction.
Vigil and procession
This year, Google did not roll out a special doodle to pay tribute to the King of Rock and Roll on the 40th anniversary of his death. However, his fans did not forget to show their unrelenting love for the late icon.
On August 16, thousands of followers joined a solemn procession past Presley’s grave in his Graceland mansion in Memphis. This was done simultaneously with a candlelight vigil, which his fans have been doing annually since his death.

But the recent commemoration was not spared from controversy. Fans had to pay a fee of $28.75 just to get in the mansion. This move dismayed many of Presley’s fanatics.
And yes, there are even speculations that the real Elvis Presley supposedly went to one of the recent gatherings in Graceland. Up until now, tabloid rumors still circulate that Presley may not have died in 1977, but just chose to get away from the limelight.
