#LearnFromHome project rolls out in YouTube amid quarantine

The ongoing lockdown in Metro Manila and many parts of the country won’t stop many resourceful people from doing what they are passionate about. For EduTuber Lyqa Maravilla, who is behind Team Lyqa, anytime is a good time for anyone to refresh his/her knowledge of curriculum-aligned topics, learn new skills, or even become an EduTuber (educational YouTube creator).

Thus, Team Lyqa has rolled out #LearnFromHome project—a compilation of helpful videos promoting both teaching and learning from home. The initiative premiered educational videos on YouTube on March 24, 2020, during the second week of the enhanced community quarantine that ordered the suspension of all classes at all levels nationwide.

“one of the problems we have these days is the need for people—the young professionals, workers, and even students—to occupy themselves while at home,” said Team Lyqa in her first #LearnFromHome video. “As an EduTuber and content creator, I figured that I can use my platform and knowledge to help those who want to be productive and make the most of their free time.”

Learn a new lesson every session

Team Lyqa has collaborated with another YouTube creator, Peter Esperanza also known as Dr. E of Numberbender to prepare a playlist covering a range of lessons in Mathematics and English. Together with other creators, Team Lyqa is also pushing for the learning of new skills like computer programming, basketball techniques, guitar tutorials, and many other online classes.

Students can also make their idle days more productive by learning new study hacks so they can use their time reviewing and preparing for their board or licensure examinations. There are career and job searching tips for those aiming to secure their careers and find their dream jobs upon the lifting of the quarantine.

More online learning sessions

Team Lyqa and Numberbender also have videos made for those who want to be EduTubers like them. Their easy-to-understand videos share tips on how to start content-creating careers during quarantine—from conceptualization to shooting and editing of YouTube channels.

Team Lyqa also hosts a Math Boot Camp that streams every Monday at 10:00 a.m. on her channel. It facilitates hands-on mentorships and in-depth learnings of various math topics. To guide online learners, worksheets, and exercises are even provided.

Free online classes are also facilitated for free by volunteer mentors. The writing class is now open, though available slots are limited. To sign up for the writing mentoring session, click here.
