Eastern Communications heads east as it expands its footprint in the Bicol region. The premier Philippine telecommunications firm is introducing its world-class products and services to consumers in Sorsogon, Naga, and Legazpi. Aside from connectivity and data, it is also introducing collaboration solutions for Bicolanos.
The launch was kicked off by the company’s trademark webinar ‘Via Eastern: Forging Strong Connections,’ where it formally announced the availability of its products and services in the region. At the same time, it emphasized that the expansion is part of its goal to democratize technology and help local businesses to emerge stronger in 2022.
Via Eastern: Forging Strong Connections was attended by members of the Albay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) and Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI). The program also centered on the insights shared by ABS-CBN Head of Integrated Marketing and Customer Experience Cookie Bartolome, who is also a Bicolana, through her presentation ‘The Digital Shift: Transformation of a Traditional Media Giant.’
Forging strong connections
The webinar discussed the importance of resilience and flexibility of businesses amid changing environments. In focus was the example being led by beleaguered broadcast giant ABS-CBN, which has successfully mounted a digital shift during the pandemic and after it was forced to cease free TV operations due to the non-renewal of its 25-year broadcast franchise in July 2020. Bartolome outlined how the company has transformed into a profitable content provider, built a digital powerhouse, and launched programs that aim to continue helping MSMEs and Filipinos in general, worldwide.
For its part, Eastern Communications underlined its goal to address the digital needs of businesses across the Bicol region through its comprehensive suite of solutions that can help enterprises to move into the next normal. The company emphasized its focus to form meaningful collaborations to champion digital transformation among Bicolanos.
“It has always been part of Eastern Communications’ plan to expand in various locations like Bicol to equip businesses of all sizes with high-quality solutions that fit their needs,” said Eastern Communications Sales Head Michael Castaneda. “We are humbled to have been given the opportunity to introduce our cutting-edge technology and honored to take part in the enablement of digitalization of businesses and contribute to the development in the province.”
Bringing solutions to Bicol
Among the connectivity solutions brought by Eastern Communications to the region are Internet Direct Service (IDS), a premium and dedicated high-speed business-grade connectivity, and other borderless solutions like Eastern Cloud (business-grade cloud service offering efficiency and collaboration) and Eastern Cyber Defense (suite of premium cybersecurity solutions equipped by global partners like Cisco, Fortinet, and DOSarrest, among others).
“With the expansion of Eastern Communications in Bicol, we are very grateful as Bicol enterprises will not be able to avail of their digital solutions and seamless connections and communication tools to improve the way they work as we enter into the next normal,” said MNCCI President Mario Villanueva.
“In the face of continuing headwinds brought about by the pandemic, the entry of Eastern Communications into the province of Bicol marks an exciting chapter. The telco provides a boost to the business sector since nowadays, one’s business relies heavily on digital platforms,” said ACCI President Rosemarie Quinto-Rey.
Bicol is now the 13th region in the country that is covered by the domestic infrastructure of Eastern Communications, which has 170 nodes and over 5,000 kilometers of total fiber length nationwide. The company has seven points of presence and major loops across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
In its more than 140 years of service, Eastern Communications has evolved into a world-class telco and ICT solutions company. It currently provides an extensive portfolio of services that include data, internet, voice, managed services, data center & cloud services, and cybersecurity protection. It has also emerged as among the preferred solutions partners for the country’s biggest industry players.
